Some FAQ to help get you started
Pricing for video production is extremely specific to the project and its deliverables. Some projects only need a simple video shoot and basic video editing, and other projects require an entire team to produce the final product. Our rates are typically charged by either a half day of shooting or a full day of shooting (typically a full day is 8 hours). Then the editing of the footage is on top of that and this can range from a few hours to many days, depending on the complexity of the project.
Our projects typically range from $2500 to $15,000 +
When you are thinking about your project, keep these parameters in mind: How long do you imagine the video shooting take? How complex does the final edited video need to be? The longer the shoot, and the more complex the final video (complex cuts, graphics, animations) the more expensive the project will be. These questions can help you gauge how involved and expensive the production will be.

What is Magpie’s process for working with a new customers ?
When a customer reaches out to us for video production services, we begin by having a conversation about your desired results and what you are hoping to achieve through video services. Once we have established the scope of the services and the desired outcome, we begin planning the shoot and setting up dates and locations.
The shoot days are planned out for the highest level of efficiency and ease for the clients. Interviews require setting up lighting and sound recording equipment, while other types of videos or promotions require the use of a drone for aerial video. All of these things need to be considered when setting up a shoot day.
After the footage and audio have been captured, the project moves into editing phase. Here the editor(s) will work on crafting the story to meet the goals and desires that were outlined in our earlier discussions and meetings.
The editing is done in two phases. Phase 1 is where the footage and audio are selected and cut together to create the story line. Often this is sent to the client for approval. Phase 2 of editing is where everything is brought together with color grading and corrections, and where the graphics and transitions are all added in to make the final product.
This edit is presented to the client and then 1 or sometimes 2 or 3 rounds of revisions are made with the client until the final video product is perfect.
The final product is then delivered to the client to use for promotion on the web or social media or broadcast.
What questions should customers think through before talking to video professionals about their project?
The major thing you need to think about when looking into video production is what is the real purpose behind getting a video produced?
You need to have some idea of what kind of outcome you are looking to achieve. Its not just "I want to make a video". You need to think about what this video is going to achieve for you or for your business. Sales? More Customers learning about your business? Explaining your services to potential clients? Knowing the answer to this question will put you in a position of developing a real solution to a problem where video can be the driver, but its not the end in itself. The real thing to think about is what problem is video solving for you or your business. Knowing this will help you and the producer make something that will convert, instead of just making video for the sake of making a video.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The best advice I can give for someone looking for video production is this: Pay for confidence...
Meaning- pay what it costs for you to have confidence in the company you are contracting in video work. Confidence that they are able to deliver. Confidence that they have been in this position before. Confidence that they will have your best interests in mind. Confidence that they will make what you need and they will do it ON TIME.
Other than that. Try to work with people that you like and are easy to work with. Simple as that.
